April 22-28: Not Much To See Here

Training last week was pretty sparse, thanks to that half ironman I had to recover from. I was feeling more or less OK by Wednesday, and was excited to get back to swimming because the Chesapeake Bay swim is in 5.5 weeks.

Ohhhhhhhhhh…..yeah…4.4 miles of swimming, I guess I should train for that?

My coach promises me several 90-120 minute swims on my schedule for the next month. I can’t wait.

Monday: 2800 meters of very easy recovery swimming.

Tuesday: Rest day.

Wednesday: 5 miles of easy running with no watch. My legs felt a little tired, but not terrible.

Thursday: 4500 yards of swimming with DCRP Masters in the evening. Some of this was at faster paces (1:15-1:17/100 yards), but a good deal of it was easier per the workout instructions.

Friday: An hour of easy (144W) spinning on the bike trainer.

Saturday: 8.89 miles of running (9:02 pace) on Beach Drive early in the morning.

Sunday: Rest day (yes, again. 70.3 miles is far.)

  1. You definitely earned a recovery week! Also, I can't fathom swimming 4.4 miles. I know you'll kill it, though. :)

  4. The idea of swimming 4.4 miles is just unfathomable to me, but if anyone can do it, you can. I also love your idea of a 'recovery' week ;)

  5. 90 mins of swimming. You are the bomb. If VA Beach hosts another 5k swim you should down and do that...it's normally in late August.

  7. Glad you are taking some rest days! I've done several 90-120 minute swims. Of course, when you are as slow as me that's how long it takes to do normal distances.

  8. You definitely deserve a rest! Although I'm not sure 4500 yards swimming is rest - at least it wouldn't be for me!

  9. I absolutely love your blog and find most of your post's to be exactly I'm
looking for. Would you offer guest writers to write content for you personally?
I wouldn't mind composing a post or elaborating on a number of the subjects you write related to here. Again, awesome web log!
