It sounds like a good race as far as lessons. For me, it's always really motivating to see that hard work is paying off. Bummer about the podium, but it still sounds like you had a massive improvement in your biking skills!Alyssahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02517428815573698474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3581132630137396385.post-25515557985036157522014-07-01T14:18:40.314-07:002014-07-01T14:18:40.314-07:00Watts, watts, WATTS! It's all about the bike,...Watts, watts, WATTS! It's all about the bike, and that's where I spent the majority of my training time this off-season too. And any day you can that close to a podium finish is a good day. It's all a build-up to Nationals--that's the big dance for us!

I'm the same way with data too. I left a lot of time on the SoBe course because I was nowhere near my FTP (which I would have realized during the race if I had a power meter, but that's neither here nor there). And on the run, I like seeing how much distance I've covered; every now and then I'll check the splits, but I really try to race by feel.Carrie @ Fitness and Frozen Grapeshttp://fitnessandfrozengrapes.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3581132630137396385.post-13666362003472141192014-07-01T13:05:06.039-07:002014-07-01T13:05:06.039-07:00Woo sprint triathlons > everything

You're still a complete badass to come so close to the podium while having a fucking shit-ton of things go wrong. And TWO full IMs? FSM, wow. I remember my first sprint tri. I'd outright forgotten my Garmin, and had to ride/run by feel (I'm a wetsuit weenie, so that felt fine but slow). My times were AWFUL. Of course, all my tris were on a MTB I'd bought in law school, but that's beside the point. I really NEED that real time data as I train, so I totally get your point. But still, you gutted this out and finished ridiculously high for a kind of race that is not necessarily friendly to endurance athletes. And, if you learned a thing or two, then so much the better. Nice work.Tai_Funghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01701744299005821243noreply@blogger.com
